WordPress have been making many improvements to their blogging tool over the last few months, with new features, stability improvements, and tweaks being released for both the Android and the iOS versions. This latest update is big news, however. The new version of the app adds support for Windows Phone 8, which was released earlier in the month.
WordPress Version 1.7 is available on the Windows Phone Store today. In addition to the new platform support, this version also offers a number of improvements, including the support for Local Drafts, which allow bloggers and web developers to preview their posts before making them live.
Another improvement in this version of the WordPress tool is the ability to change the position of images in the post. You can also change “Post Formats” in this version of the tool.
Users on other platforms will also appreciate the list of bug fixes and speed improvements that this version of the tool brings, in addition to the addition of several new supported languages.
The tool still has a little way to go before it has the functionality of the website version. I can think of many tablet owners that prefer to use the website rather than the app, because their mobile browsers are more than capable of handling the WordPress website. However, the usefulness of the app for people that use smartphones, rather than tablet PCs, is undeniable.
The WordPress app for Windows Phone 8 is a free download from the Windows Store. The Android and iOS versions are also free from their respective app stores.
